Welcome to the Hogarth Singers, a friendly choir based in Chiswick, West London,
near Turnham Green station (District line).
We rehearse on Monday evenings at the Arts Educational Schools, Bath Road, London W4 and perform three concerts a year, usually in St Michael and All Angels church.

Our next concert is on Saturday March 16th when we will be singing  a programme of French music.

We welcome new members and have a special rate of £10 per term for under-25s. We are also offering new tenors a discount of 50% for their first term.
Have a look at the Join Us section above for more details.  We look forward to seeing you!

If you would like to try us out, why not come to our Come and Sing on 17th January.

Come and sing - how it works

Are there any soloists?

There are no soloists, just choral singers, accompanied on the piano.

What will we sing?

We will only sing the choruses i.e. movements with choir, and will aim to sing most of them, so no movements consisting solely of arias/recits - the choir may collectively sing some of the solo parts voluntarily in movements with choir and soloist parts, such as the beginning of The Lord is great to set up the movement, or in The heavens are telling.

What is the format of the evening?

The general format is that we run through all the material from 1930 with a brief ‘rehearsal’ after we've sung each movement for the first time, then have a break during which refreshments are available, then ‘perform’ the whole work to ourselves at the end. Given the brief time available, the general ethos is about having fun singing and adding/correcting some details after the run-through, rather than achieving a note perfect performance. We’ll end by 2130.

Is there anything else I need to know?

We will also sing a short extract from Saint-Saëns Requiem as a taster of what we’re performing in our Spring concert for those considering joining us for that. (The come and sing is free if you do join us for the spring term from 21 January as a new member, and it’s 50% off subscriptions for the term if you’re a new tenor).
